Bette Angle is the owner of Grassy Creek Farm in Nicholas County. She and her husband, Charles, have two high tunnels and a hydroponic system where many of the herbs are grown. Bette has four decades of learning, growing, and using herbs for all their purposes. She has a line of culinary salt-free spice mixes, herbal tea blends, and over 100 different herbs. Her Farm makes salves, tinctures, and cosmetics to heal and pamper you with natural ingredients.
She writes Bette’s Beds in the Nicholas Chronicle giving out gardening advice and highlighting agricultural events with powerful and entertaining articles. Bette has a lengthy list of classes she teaches on behalf of WVU Extension Service Master Gardeners and 4H. Her Wilderness Survival and Wild Food Foraging classes are two of her most popular. Book a class in your area or join one at her farm.
Bette developed an acclaimed researched based class in how to cook and eat so it prevents or reverses heart disease. The Heart Healthy Cooking Class is the HOW to the WHAT your doctor tells you to do to be healthier. It’s one evening a week for 8 weeks where she demonstrates everything you need to know about modern healthy eating. Each class is loaded with information and hands on training. Plus, the best part is getting to eat it all while having some fun learning!
Bette’s husband says what he wants readers to know about Bette is that she goes out of her way to help people. He wants you to know she works hard to get the facts. She is a person who, like a faithful Pitbull, hangs on and gets things done.
Bette is retired Army and has a Master of Business Administration from The University of Texas at Arlington. She is pictured here holding her Best-of-Show winning garlic plant that is over six feet tall.
