AUTHOR OF AWARD-WINNING CUBS THRILLER, 'KILLING THE CURSE,' TO SIGN BOOKS AT WRIGLEYVILLE SPORTS -- ACROSS FROM WRIGLEY FIELD -- ON SATURDAY, SEPT. 12, FROM 1-3 P.M.

For Immediate Release
You don’t have to wait until October to see if the Chicago Cubs make it to the World Series.  Chicago-area native Dennis Hetzel will be meeting fans and signing his novel, Killing the Curse, at Wrigleyville Sports, across from Wrigley Field, 959 W. Addison St., from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12.
Killing the Curse is an award-winning sports-political thriller that revolves around the cursed history of baseball’s Chicago Cubs, a crazed fan who will do anything to ensure the team’s first championship since 1908 and a President of the United States with a childhood secret whose passion for the Cubs puts the presidency and lives at stake.
The novel recently was named Best General Fiction Winner at the Great Southwest Book Festival. The Great Midwest Book Festival and the San Francisco Book Festival awarded Honorable Mentions to Killing the Curse for Best Fiction.  Author Chris Fischer, reviewing “Curse” for ReadersFavorite.com, gave the novel five stars and said, “Killing the Curse is a fantastic read, Cubs fan or not.”
“The Cubs are in the World Series, so it must be fiction,” said Hetzel. “Like all Cub fans, I’m excited about their prospects this season, but we all know that strange things always seem to happen.”
The story opens with the mysterious death of the father of the star pitcher for the opposing Boston Red Sox just before Game Six of the World Series. The plot flows out of the childhood friendship in the Chicago suburb of Palatine between Bob Walters, an ego-driven sports-radio talk show host known as “the man Cubs fans love to hate,” and President Luke Murphy, a lifelong Cubs fan who faces a crisis as the end of the World Series that turns into a far-more important event than a baseball game.
Writing his first published fiction, Hetzel collaborated on the book with Rick Robinson, his friend and popular author of multiple award-winning political thrillers. Hetzel is an award-winning journalist who went on to a career as a media executive. He’s currently executive director of the Ohio Newspaper Association in Columbus, Ohio.
Killing the Curse has received strongly positive reviews and been the subject of feature articles in two Chicago-area daily newspapers, The Daily Herald and Northwest Indiana Times. It’s available in paperback and e-book formats at Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble Nook and numerous bookstores from Publisher Page, an imprint of Headline Books, Terra Alta, WV.
Wrigleyville Sports, located in the heart of Chicago’s Wrigleyville neighborhood since 1990, carries a wide selection of licensed Cubs apparel and novelties; available in both their retail store and online.
