Autumn Is Calling –New Book Celebrates Appalachia in its Glory

Terra Alta WV_ Children’s book author Jan Thornton Jones has new book released, Autumn Is Calling published by Headline Books, 2024 Independent Publisher of the Year. This children’s book celebrates the customs and culture of Appalachia. Katie is learning about the fall season as she and her mother walk to the local Autumn Festival.

Multi-award-winning author Jan Thornton Jones will sign her new book on September 6 at the First Friday Art Walk from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm in downtown New Martinsville, WV, and at the Fall Craft Festival in the parking lot of The First Church of God from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm on September 28.

She will be a featured author in the Headline Books booth at the Preston County Buckwheat Festival in Kingwood, WV, on September 27 and at the West Virginia Book Festival in Charleston, WV, on September 19. October 5 she will be signing books at The Book Store in New Martinsville, WV

Jan will also be a featured author at The Southern Christmas Show in Charlotte, NC, November 15-16 in Headline Books Shop 20 in Liberty Hall, Park Expo, and Conference Center.

Mom’s Choice Award Honoree Jan Thornton Jones graduated from West Virginia University with a degree in Elementary Education, a Master’s in Communication Studies, and another Master’s in Early Intervention Special Education. Jan spent many years as an early childhood teacher and is now enjoying retirement with her husband, Don. She is the author of three multi-award-winning books, The Angel In City Park, Last Letter To Gettysburg, and Why Me? Jan is a Zoom Into Books author and loves to make school visits. She was a featured author at the 2022 American Library Association (ALA) National Conference in Washington, D.C. Autumn Is Calling is illustrated by Katerina Boyer Case is from Salem, West Virginia, where she studied graphic arts and AP Art for three years consecutively with a short gap before continuing her art education at Fairmont State University. She enjoys doing small illustrations and portraits and was honored by the West Virginia Art Education Association with a 2021 Youth Art Month Award. She also designed the poster for the Italian Heritage Festival in 2019 and 2021. Autumn is Calling is Katerina’s first book as an illustrator.
