Assistant Professor Deren Patterson hopes his ground-breaking research will guarantee his promotion at Buchanan College. Wrapped up in his own work, Deren and his wife Molly clash over domestic issues, mounting debt, and his time away from family.
Soon after Deren submits his manuscript and before being made public, a number of disturbing events occur. A scientist, whose research is similar to Deren’s, is brutally murdered. The next day Deren receives a generous offer to purchase part of his research. How did the caller get access to the privileged document? And why the interest in a mouse gene?
