Just about anything that is inflatable can qualify as a “balloon.”
“Inflatables” can be utilized for a broad variety of purposes. In addition to regular ol’ balloons, there are aeronautical balloons (either hot air or gas, or a combination thereof); there are airships (such as blimps, dirigibles, and zeppelins); there are inflatables that are used by the military and the scientific community; there are inflatable medical devices; there are inflatable recreational devices; there are inflatable safety devices; there are comfort-related inflatable devices; there are inflatable buildings; and there are a host of other miscellaneous inflatable devices. Example of all of these are discussed in this book, and you are likely to find the subject matter fascinating, as did I.
